Tim Macrow confirmed in growing S5000 grid

Tim Macrow, the winner of the very first S5000 race at Sandown 15 months ago, can’t wait for the VHT S5000 Australian Drivers Championship to kick off, at Symmons Plains, next month.

The former double Gold Star champion, during the championship’s F3 era, has confirmed his UCS Group Racing TMR entry, again backed by power infrastructure group UCS and Holinger Engineering, suppliers of the S5000 category’s gearbox and drivetrain elements.

“UCS Group is delighted to continue supporting Tim Macrow in the 2021 Australian Drivers championship,” says Stephen Ellich, UCS Group CEO.

“After a false start in 2020, the first round in January can’t come around fast enough! We hope this is the beginning of something big for UCS, Tim and motorsport in Australia.”

“The COVID-19 shut-down has certainly been a test for a number of us who were lined up ready to go at the F1 Grand Prix, back in March,” says Macrow, “but confirmation of the slightly compacted series, running over the remaining summer months, is a great way for Australia’s new premier open-wheeler category to hit the road again.

“The support of Australian companies such as UCS and Holinger is crucial, not only for my team, but the ongoing growth of something that I know will excite motorsport fans everywhere.

“We’ll be testing in the lead-up to Tassie to further our experience with the car and try a few set-up tweaks. Like I said, I can’t wait too get back behind the wheel.”
The 2021 VHT S5000 Australian Drivers Championship will kick off at Symmons Plains in Tasmania, from January 24-26 (Australia Day), completing a Covid-delayed four-round series at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 1-2.
