S5000 to hold demonstrations at ALMS event at The Bend this weekend

One of Adelaide-based Team BRM’s S5000 cars is set to run some demonstration laps at the Asian Le Mans Series event at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend.

S5000 regular Tim Macrow will pilot the car, with a couple of runs on Saturday and a further session at 10.30am on Sunday before the start of the inaugural ALMS 4 Hour race.

“There’s a significant international driver line-up at The Bend this weekend, so it makes sense to show them what S5000 is about,” said S5000 category manager Chris Lambden.

“There are some quality drivers in the ALMS series, several of whom would be right at home in an S5000 car …”

Preparations for the start of the 2020 S5000 Championship continue, with the Shannons Championships season set to kick off at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 12-15.

“Our teams are in discussion with some good young drivers and, now that New Year has come and gone, much of that will start to come together.”
