Vale Ron Tauranac

Our condolences are with the family and friends of Ron Tauranac AO, a legend of Australian and world motorsport who passed away today.

Ron will forever be remembered as the gifted designer who, in partnership with Sir Jack Brabham, created the Brabham racing cars that won countless races and titles. Among them, the Formula 1 World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships of 1966 and 1967.

Together with his brother Austin, Ron also founded the successful Ralt (Ron & Austin Lewis Tauranac) marque of racing cars.

The Australian Drivers’ Championship and CAMS Gold Star have been won on 13 occasions by Brabham or Ralt cars of Ron’s creation.
