VIDEO FEATURE: Tim Macrow’s S5000 journey
Tim Macrow has lived and breathed open wheel race cars his whole life.
While he was in nappies, his father Peter was a leading competitor in high-performance single seat race cars in Australia in the early-mid 80s.
After karting, Macrow followed in the footsteps of his older brother Adam, progressing through Formula Ford, and while Adam went down a touring car path, Tim stayed true to his love of open wheelers, winning the Australian Formula 3 title on two occasions.
When S5000 came onto the landscape, Macrow jumped at the chance to be involved. He was the test driver in category manager Chris Lambden’s original ‘Formula Thunder 5000’ chassis, and ultimately the test and development driver for the current car.
Macrow runs his own car in S5000 now, and is keen to expand his own team to field more.
In a special video presentation, we caught up with the Melbourne driver/team owner to look back at his S5000 journey.
