Reigning champion Joey Mawson leads second practice at AGP

A tight battle for Supercheap Auto pole position is expected following a close second practice session for the Nulon S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship at Albert Park.

By the end of the session the top 11 drivers were covered by less than a second, as reigning champion Joey Mawson set a 1m 41.018s to top the timesheets from James Davison by 0.236s.

Third in the session was last year’s Tasman Cup winner Aaron Cameron ahead of Garry Rogers Motorsport teammate Ben Bargwanna leaving Team BRM’s Zane Goddard to round out the top five.

In an uninterrupted 25-minute session, opening practice pacesetter GRM Team Valvoline’s James Golding was sixth from teammate Nathan Herne, Versa Motorsport’s Cooper Webster, championship leader Tim Macrow and Kiwi rising star Kaleb Ngatoa.

Qualifying is next on the Nulon S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship schedule at 4:40pm.
