Cameron Scores S5000 Pole at The Bend
Aaron Cameron has backed up his practice pace in the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship at The Bend, registering pole position aboard his Team Valvoline GRM machine.
Cameron’s pole time around the International Circuit was a swift 1:40.8420sec.
The front row of the grid will set the scene for the championship point leaders, with Cooper Webster (Versa Motorsport) backing up his strong practice form with another second-place performance, only 0.1420sec shy of Cameron’s effort.
Third on the grid for race one will be Jordan Boys in the second of the Team Valvoline GRM entries, just edging out Aaron Love, who topped the opening practice session on a wet track in his Team BRM machine, before posting his best qualifying lap at the tail of the session.
Fifth on the grid will be the Nippy’s Racing car of Blake Purdie, followed in sixth by the Hangcha Racing entry of Ben Bargwanna.
Rounding out the timesheet were Nic Carroll (Crown Windows), Kody Garland (Wholesale Diesel) and Mark Rosser (The Fuzzies Game).
The 20-minute-long qualifying session was held in fine and dry conditions and ran cleanly throughout.
The opening two races for the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship at The Bend are scheduled for 7:35am ACST and at 11:05am tomorrow, with live coverage available on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.
