Team BRM set for test and evaluation day at The Bend
Leading S5000 squad Team BRM is running an evaluation day at The Bend Motorsport Park on Saturday, December 14 for serious prospective S5000 entrants.
A number of drivers looking to put a 2020 programme together will undertake acclimatisation runs in one or more of the cars recently run by the team at the recent S5000 event, which the team dominated thanks to its star drivers Thomas Randle and Anton de Pasquale.
Team owner Mark Rundle says that he has at least two drivers confirmed for the test and is looking for others, offering genuinely interested parties the chance to test with a top team.
“We’re doing the test an evaluation for us to see how certain guys go in the car, and for the driver to get an idea of what the cars are like,” said Rundle.
“The guys who we are testing are experienced in a range of different categories. We feel that they will adapt quickly, but they are keen to sample the cars first before committing to the class.
“This is a professional racing series that they can see this a legitimate step in their career, and now with the new broadcast deal with Seven confirmed, there are commercial benefits that we can all gain from.”
Other S5000 teams could also join in on the day as interest in taking part in the 2020 Motorsport Australia S5000 Championship spirals following the two successful opening events.
The V8-powered open wheeler category’s six round championship kicks off at the Rolex Australian F1 Grand Prix, in March, and is followed by S5000’s appearance at the Bathurst International at the end of the year.
